Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Friday chaired a coordination meeting on the Kohima–Dimapur National Highway (NH-29) at Raj Bhavan. The meeting was attended by officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the state government.
Discussions focused on the progress and challenges in the ongoing works along the Peren–Dimapur, Kohima–Jessami, Kohima–Mao, and Dimapur–Kohima stretches of the highway. The Governor emphasized the need for exploring alternate connectivity in affected areas and called for proper drainage and sewage systems to ensure long-term road sustainability.
He also highlighted the importance of strict monitoring of overloaded trucks, particularly on the Nagaland–Manipur highway. The Governor urged all concerned departments and agencies to work in close coordination to ensure timely completion of projects for public benefit.
Commissioner and Secretary of NPWD, Kesonyu Yhome, briefed the Governor on specific highway locations where the State Government is carrying out management works.
