Nagaland Government schools in Nagaland are grappling with low student enrolment, rising dropout rates, and falling academic standards, according to Samagra Shiksha Nagaland State Mission Director L Jamithung Lotha.
Speaking at a two-day workshop in Kohima, Lotha stated that while 70 per cent of schools in the state are government-run, a significant number of students are shifting to private institutions. He noted that despite being fewer in number, private schools continue to attract more students.
Lotha expressed concern over this trend, warning that the growing migration to private schools is contributing to an increase in dropout rates. He emphasized the need for timely interventions to strengthen the quality of education in government schools and retain student enrolment.
