Kohima, July 18: A total blockade of the Kohima-Jessami Road (NH-29) began peacefully on Thursday, called by aggrieved landowners affected by the 2-lane road construction under Packages 2, 3, 4, and 5.

The landowners are protesting due to pending compensation disputes and will continue the blockade until the outcome of a meeting convened by the Deputy Commissioner of Phek today.

The landowners have appealed for public understanding and urged commuters to take alternative routes to avoid inconvenience along the affected stretch of NH-29.
