Kohima, July 29: Lok Sabha MP and Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president S. Supongmeren Jamir has raised serious concerns over critical infrastructure issues affecting Nagaland and the wider Northeast region.

In a communication to the Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jamir highlighted the prolonged delay in completing the four-laning of the Dimapur–Kohima highway. He stressed the urgent need to expedite the project due to its significance for regional connectivity and economic development.

Jamir also drew attention to the persistent problem of poor mobile connectivity in many remote villages. Despite being officially listed as covered, several areas reportedly continue to lack functional network services, posing challenges for communication and access to digital services.

Further, the MP expressed disappointment over the abrupt discontinuation of off-grid solar energy programs in the Northeast. He noted that initiatives such as solar street lighting, home lighting systems, and solar power packs had played a crucial role in providing energy access in remote areas and called for their revival.
