Nagaland: Peren District Planning Board Approves Pilot Public-Private Partnership Project

kohima, Jun 6: The monthly meeting of the Peren District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and DPDB Chairman T.R. Zeliang.

The meeting began with a welcome address by the Deputy Commissioner, Hiazu Meru, who also introduced new members including PD, DRDA Peren Rongsenmenla Jamir NCS, Principal of Peren Government College Dr. T. Jamedi Longkumer, and Superintendent of District Jail L. Imlinnungba Lkr.

In his address, T.R. Zeliang appreciated the strong participation of officers and staff in the recent plantation drive. He emphasized the importance of proper maintenance of planted trees and suggested limiting the number of plants to a manageable level. He also encouraged identifying the ideal time for tree plantation.

Zeliang further urged departments implementing Centrally Sponsored Schemes to work closely with the District Planning Officer to facilitate significant district development.

Following the review of previous meeting minutes, DC Peren Hiazu Meru informed attendees about a monthly mass social work activity to be held on the fourth Friday of every month and requested active participation from all offices and departments.

A key highlight was the approval of a Pilot Public-Private Partnership project at Government Higher Secondary School, Nsong. Dr. Fr. Francis, Principal of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, explained the project concept and sought support from the board members. The proposal was unanimously approved and will be forwarded to the government.

The proposal for the registration of the Rural Upliftment Society, Tening Town, was deferred to the next meeting due to absence of verifying officers and society members.

The Labour Department delivered a detailed presentation on its initiatives and activities during the meeting.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru.
