Kohima, July 17: Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan has announced that the Nagaland government is in the process of formulating a new Agriculture Policy aimed at enhancing productivity, strengthening market linkages, ensuring farmer welfare, and improving post-harvest infrastructure.
During a field visit to Chiethu near Kohima on Wednesday, Yanthan also highlighted the ELEMENT project, a World Bank-funded initiative promoting forest-based economic opportunities. He stated that Chiechama Village is among 225 villages selected under this project.
Encouraging farmers to adopt a proactive, collaborative, and entrepreneurial mindset, the Advisor emphasized the importance of maximizing the state’s agricultural potential.
Meanwhile, Sovima Village Council Chairman Sebastian Zumvu pointed out the scenic landscape and agricultural promise of Chiethu, suggesting its potential for development as an agrotourism destination.
