Nagaland Strengthens Weather Monitoring With 17 Meteorological Observatories

Kohima, Oct 14: Nagaland has established 17 meteorological observatories across the state since 1989, enhancing its weather monitoring capabilities.

Advisor Imkong L. Imchen stated this at a social night organized by the Department of Soil & Water Conservation in Chümoukedima. He emphasized the system’s pivotal role in disaster preparedness and risk reduction.

Imchen commended the department’s contribution to environmental and agricultural sustainability, acknowledging its collaboration with the Brahmaputra Board. Chairman Dr. Ranbir Singh praised Nagaland’s conservation efforts, aligning with National Water Policies.

Dr. Singh assured continued support to the department, recognizing its proactive approach. The initiative aims to improve forecasting skills and climate monitoring, boosting the region’s resilience against natural disasters.
