Kohima, Oct 15: A student from Nagaland has become a victim of a cyber scam, losing Rs 38,000 and facing blackmail in Gorakhpur. The incident occurred on October 10 when the student received a call from an individual posing as an official from the State Bank of India, who falsely claimed that a loan had been taken out in her name.

Concerned about the alleged fraud, the student, studying at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, transferred the requested amount out of fear. The situation escalated when the scammer, impersonating a police officer, threatened her and invaded her privacy through a video call.

Authorities at the Cantt Police Station in Gorakhpur are investigating the case and are committed to making swift arrests to bring the perpetrators to justice.
