The Nagaland State Tax Department has reported a significant increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collection, highlighting a 104% rise in June 2025 compared to the same period last year. The department attributed the sharp growth to extensive internal reforms and strengthened enforcement measures.

According to official data, GST revenue collection grew by 43% in April and 44% in May 2025, culminating in the unprecedented 104% surge in June. Petroleum revenue also recorded a 31% increase during the first quarter of the 2025–26 financial year.

The milestone was marked at a programme held at the Office of the Commissioner of Taxes in Dimapur on Saturday. Commissioner of State Taxes, Abhinav Shivam, termed the development a sign of Nagaland’s steady adaptation to the evolving GST framework.

Emphasising the need for wider public participation, the Commissioner called on citizens and taxpayers to contribute to tax optimisation efforts, describing it as essential for building a stronger and self-reliant Nagaland.
