The Wokha district administration has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with three national research institutions to strengthen scientific farming and promote sustainable agricultural practices. The agreement was signed on Wednesday during the Banana Festival 2025 in Wokha.

The partnership includes ICAR–National Research Centre for Banana in Tamil Nadu, the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) in Imphal, and CSIR–North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) in Jorhat. The festival, featuring more than 100 stalls displaying banana varieties, by-products, and local innovations, will continue till tomorrow with buyer-seller interactions and technical training sessions focused on rural development.
