Hornbill Festival Ends On High Note, Culture Takes Centre Stage, Records Impressive Footfall

Kohima, Dec 10: The International Hornbill Festival 2025 concluded at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, with a vibrant display of Naga tribal culture attracting visitors from across India and abroad.

The ten-day festival featured colorful performances, cultural exhibitions, and traditional games, highlighting the unique heritage of Naga tribes. Visitors appreciated the warm hospitality, traditional morungs (tribal dormitories), music, dance, and indigenous sports.

Gaya Ziv Edri from Israel described the festival as “very lovely” and praised the lively atmosphere. A Canadian visitor, attending for the second time, admired the diverse cultural programs representing different tribes of Nagaland. First-time attendees, including Udhay from Tamil Nadu, called Nagaland “the safest place to be” and lauded its people and culture.

Domestic tourists from various Indian states described Hornbill 2025 as a “window into the Northeast,” highlighting the festival’s blend of crafts, cuisine, adventure activities, and educational value in showcasing Naga cultural diversity. Indigenous food stalls, handloom and handicraft markets, and adventure events were among the major attractions.

The closing ceremony featured a Unity Dance by 18 cultural troupes at the Unity Arena, followed by the formal closing function scheduled for 5 PM on December 10. Visitors praised the seamless organization, improved facilities, and growing international recognition of the festival, calling it an enriching cultural experience.
