In a major operation against drug menace, the Excise and Narcotics Department of Mizoram on Friday apprehended two individuals and seized a huge cache of contraband substances from their possession.

The security forces have recovered at least 366 grams of Heroin No. 4 from the outskirts of Mualzen village, Champhai district.

Identified as Lallawmzuala – a resident of Lunglei, and Lianchhuaka – a Champhai resident, both the individuals were apprehended by security forces for transporting contraband substances.

Meanwhile, the taxi vehicle registered under MZ04A-5532, used for transporting the drugs was also seized by security forces.

In another incident, the Excise & Narcotics Department seized 69 grams of Heroin No. 4 from Tlangsam, Tiau Road of Champhai District.

Furthermore, the apprehended individuals have been booked under Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
