Agartala, September 10, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said the three newly enacted landmark laws are designed to strengthen and modernize the country’s criminal justice system.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of a State-Level Exhibition on New Criminal Laws at the Indoor Exhibition Hall in Hapania, Dr. Saha said the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023—introduced by the Centre—replaced colonial-era laws and came into effect on July 1, 2024.

“Tripura has become the first state to organize such an exhibition. These laws are citizen-friendly and will ensure greater transparency in the justice delivery process,” the Chief Minister stated. He highlighted new provisions such as community service and witness protection measures, emphasizing their importance for effective justice.

Dr. Saha further said that Tripura has earned recognition at the national level due to the sensitivity and awareness of both citizens and the administration, adding that the state continues to maintain a strong position in law and order.

The programme was attended by MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, DGP Anurag, Home Secretary Abhishek Singh, and other senior officials. The exhibition will remain open until September 14.
