Agartala, October 08, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said that the upcoming Next-Generation GST reforms will bring significant relief to the common people by simplifying the tax system and enhancing transparency.

Speaking at a workshop titled “Benefits from Next Generation GST” held at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala, Dr. Saha emphasized that earlier, citizens were often confused by the complex array of taxes. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the tax structure has been simplified, ensuring ease and clarity for taxpayers,” he said.

The Chief Minister further remarked that the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) had already contributed to the nation’s economic growth, and the new reforms would further strengthen this momentum. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned building a Viksit Bharat by 2047, and Tripura has already drafted its roadmap to contribute to that goal,” Dr. Saha stated.

Highlighting the major change, he said the new GST structure has reduced the tax slabs from five to two, making the process more streamlined and citizen-friendly. “The Next-Gen GST reform is a pro-people initiative with clear and effective guidelines,” he added.

Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, who was also present at the workshop organized by the Taxes Organisation of the Finance Department, described the event as “an insightful session that enhanced awareness and collaboration towards building a more efficient and transparent GST framework.”

Finance Secretary Apurba Roy and several senior officials also attended the workshop.
