Aizawl, Jan 17: Executive Director of the National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Regional Office, Aizawl, Pu Virendra Kumar Jakhar, along with his team, met with Mizoram Governor General (Dr) VK Singh at Raj Bhavan this evening to provide a detailed update on the ongoing highway projects in the state.
During the meeting, Governor General (Dr) VK Singh emphasized the crucial role of NHIDCL-managed highways in the state’s development. He stressed the need for timely and high-quality project completion, particularly focusing on the Silchar highway, which he termed a vital lifeline for Mizoram.
Pu Virendra Kumar Jakhar outlined the progress of NHIDCL’s work in the state, revealing that Mizoram has a total of 1,523 km of National Highways. Of this, 921 km are managed by NHIDCL, and 602 km fall under the Public Works Department. To date, 547 km of NHIDCL-managed highways have been completed, 221 km are under construction, and 153 km are in the pipeline.
