Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh assured that the BJP-led government is committed to inclusive development and does not discriminate between the hills and valley districts in the allocation of welfare projects. Speaking at a sports event in Riha village, Kamjong district, Singh emphasized that the government’s focus is on promoting unity and mutual respect, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities, which has resulted in over 250 deaths since May 2023.
“The BJP-led government believes in inclusive development and ensures equal attention for both hills and valleys,” Singh said. He highlighted several infrastructure projects undertaken in the hill districts, including the completion of a mini secretariat in Kamjong, ongoing construction of 33/11 KV sub-stations, and the sanctioning of a bridge over Maklang River. He also announced that a District Transport Office (DTO) would soon be opened in Kamjong.
The Chief Minister further pointed out that significant development work had been carried out in Ukhrul, including the construction of an astroturf football ground, the development of the Ukhrul Sports Complex gallery, and the planned upgrade of Pettigrew College with an estimated cost of Rs 70 crore. To address water scarcity in Ukhrul, a dam has been constructed in Shiroy Hill with a budget allocation of Rs 6 crore.
Singh also assured the people of Riha village that a new gallery will be built at Lungreiphung ground, with an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crore, reinforcing the government’s commitment to development in all regions of the state.
