Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma inaugurated the ‘She-Rise’ production unit, a Zero Waste Period Mission under the Green Meghalaya Initiative by the Shubham Charitable Association, at Laitkroh on Monday.

The unit is the first in the Northeast dedicated to producing reusable sanitary pads, aiming to promote menstrual hygiene, sustainability, and women’s health.

The Shubham Charitable Association set up the unit with a ₹5 lakh grant from the Chief Minister’s Special Grant, which helped procure necessary machinery. The initiative has also provided employment to over 25 women from the community. The Chief Minister encouraged public support for the project.
