Kohima, Jan 8: More than 32,000 candidates have applied for 1,176 constable (general duty) positions in the Nagaland Police, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The recruitment rally began Wednesday across multiple districts, with document verification, physical standard tests, and medical examinations conducted simultaneously at several locations. Candidates who clear these stages will move on to physical efficiency tests, including running and endurance events, followed by a written examination.
The multi-day recruitment process, organized district-wise, will continue until January 16. For the first time, applications were submitted entirely online, with eligibility restricted to indigenous inhabitants of Naga tribes.
Authorities emphasized transparency and merit-based selection, deploying multiple monitoring teams at recruitment centers. Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, overseeing the Home portfolio, assured candidates of a fair process free from favoritism and encouraged them to focus on their preparation and performance.
