Agartala, February 4, 2026: The process for appointing the next Vice Chancellor of Tripura University has gathered momentum, with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) forwarding a panel of five shortlisted candidates to the Prime Minister’s Office, official sources said.
The file is expected to reach Rashtrapati Bhavan by Friday, marking a key step in the selection procedure.
The panel includes Professor Debabrata Dass of Assam University, Professor Dipak Sinha of Nagaland University, Professor Rajib Mohan Panth, who is currently serving as Vice Chancellor of Assam Central University, Professor Vijita Singh Aggarwal of Indraprastha State University, New Delhi, and Professor Dipak Acharyaya, a New Delhi–based academic originally from Odisha.
Sources in the MHRD indicated that the final decision on the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor is likely to be taken before February 15. The appointment is expected to bring administrative stability and academic leadership to Tripura University in the coming term.
