Agartala, July 24, 2025: The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on Thursday announced a significant improvement in the overall pass rates for both secondary (Madhyamik) and higher secondary examinations following the results of the ‘Bachar Bachao’ (year-saving) exams.
Addressing a press conference, TBSE President Dr. Dhananjay Gan Chowdhury informed that the pass percentage for Madhyamik has increased to 92.51%, while the pass rate for Higher Secondary now stands at 88.24%.
Dr. Chowdhury said that a total of 2,995 students became eligible to appear for the ‘Bachar Bachao’ (year-saving) exam following revaluation. Out of these, 2,710 students actually appeared for the examination, with 1,919 passing and 791 failing, leading to a pass percentage of 70.81%.
Initially, of the 21,506 candidates who appeared for the Higher Secondary examinations this year, 17,052 students passed, recording a pass rate of 79.29%. After revaluation, the rate rose marginally to 79.32%. The ‘Bachar Bachao’ (year-saving) exam results have now pushed the total number of successful candidates to 18,978, raising the final pass percentage to 88.24%.
For Madhyamik, 3,155 students were eligible post-revaluation, out of which 2,772 students appeared. Of them, 1,757 passed and 1,015 failed, resulting in a 63.38% pass rate in the ‘Bachar Bachao’ (year-saving) exam.
Earlier, 29,670 candidates had appeared for the Madhyamik examination. 25,673 passed, putting the original pass percentage at 86.53%. Following revaluation, the rate improved slightly to 86.58%. With the inclusion of the 1,757 successful ‘Bachar Bachao’ (year-saving) candidates, the final number of passed students stands at 27,448, pushing the pass percentage to 92.51%.
“The ‘Bachar Bachao’ (year-saving) examination results have been uploaded to the board’s official website,” said Dr. Chowdhury, adding that all preparations for the 2025 board examinations have been completed as of today.
He also mentioned that students who have passed from other boards and intend to sit for either the secondary or higher secondary exams under TBSE must seek prior permission from the board.
TBSE Secretary also addressed the media, stating, “The improvement in the pass percentages is a reflection of the board’s continued efforts to support students through revaluation and the ‘Bachar Bachao’ (year-saving) opportunity. We encourage students to take full advantage of these mechanisms.”
The ‘Bachar Bachao’ (year-saving) exam system has been instrumental in offering students a second chance, and this year’s data suggests it has significantly boosted the overall pass statistics.
