Under the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture & Family Welfare, the District Administration Kamjong officially launched the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) at the Kamjong DC Office, Kamjong headquarters. The launch event was attended by Shri Hanyo Rungsung, SDC Kamjong District, along with DLOs, staff members, and village representatives.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Hanyo Rungsung highlighted the objectives of the scheme, emphasizing productivity, sustainability, and financial empowerment for low-performing farmers in the region. He stated that the scheme’s implementation will be guided by local needs and closely monitored through a digital dashboard tracking 117 Key Performance Indicators, including crop yield, loan disbursal, and storage usage. He further urged village representatives to utilize this initiative as an opportunity to enhance agricultural productivity and improve livelihoods.

It may be noted that the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) is a flagship initiative aimed at transforming Indian agriculture by making it more productive, sustainable, and financially rewarding. Announced in the Union Budget 2025–26 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and approved by the Union Cabinet on July 16, 2025, the scheme focuses on 100 underperforming districts across the country. With an annual allocation of ₹24,000 crore for six years (2025–26 to 2030–31), totaling ₹1.44 lakh crore, PMDDKY aims to benefit 1.7 crore small and marginal farmers owning less than 2 hectares of land—who form 86% of India’s farming population, according to the Economic Survey 2024–25.
