Agartala, January 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister J.P. Nadda, and BJP National President Nitin Nabin extended warm greetings to the people of Tripura on the occasion of Statehood Day.
In a message on social media, Prime Minister Modi described Tripura as a state of “rich cultural heritage and hardworking people.” He recalled his multiple visits to the state, including his most recent trip in September 2025 at the onset of Navratri, when he offered prayers at the Mata Tripura Sundari temple and reviewed ongoing development works at the temple premises.
The Prime Minister emphasized that for decades, people in the Northeast, including Tripura, felt disconnected from the national mainstream. He said the government takes pride in bridging this gap by fostering emotional bonds and strengthening connections with the region. Referring to the vision of Purvodaya, he noted that the initiative is accelerating progress in eastern India, including the Northeast. Events such as the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, startup and investment summits, and the granting of GI tags to unique state products, he said, reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
Highlighting the transformation of Tripura over the past eight years, Modi credited the combined efforts of the NDA government at the Centre and the state’s “double-engine government.” He said the historic mandates of 2018 and 2023 were respected through sustained developmental initiatives that have significantly improved living standards. Strengthening physical and social infrastructure has been a priority, with central schemes directly benefiting citizens. He pointed to the inauguration of the new integrated terminal at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in 2022 as a milestone that boosted connectivity, trade, and tourism.
The Prime Minister also noted that regions once troubled by insurgency have now embraced peace and progress. The 2024 peace accords with NLFT and ATTF, he said, marked a new beginning for the state. “The people of Tripura have rejected regressive ideologies and placed their trust in development-oriented governance,” he remarked, expressing hope that, with the blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari, the state will fulfill the vision of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his greetings, wishing prosperity and peace for the people of Tripura.
Health Minister J.P. Nadda, in his message, extended heartfelt wishes to the “brothers and sisters of Tripura,” praising the state’s cultural richness and resilience. He prayed for prosperity, peace, and good health for every family under the blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari.
BJP National President Nitin Nabin congratulated the people of Tripura on Statehood Day, lauding their positive outlook and dedication to national progress despite challenges. He also extended greetings to the people of Manipur and Meghalaya, noting their significant contributions to India’s overall development through hard work and sacrifice.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his warm wishes, calling them a source of inspiration for the state’s continued journey of growth and transformation.
