Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stones and inaugurate a series of development projects worth ₹8,500 crore during his scheduled visit to Manipur on September 13, officials said on Thursday.
According to official billboards, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for projects worth ₹7,300 crore at Peace Ground in Churachandpur, a Kuki-majority district. He is also slated to inaugurate infrastructure projects worth ₹1,200 crore in Imphal, the state capital dominated by the Meiteis.
The projects lined up include a working women’s hostel, initiatives under the PM-DevINE scheme, a super-speciality healthcare facility across five hill districts, the Manipur Infotech Development Project to create youth employment opportunities, and Eklavya model residential schools for tribal students. Modi may also lay the foundation for new Manipur Bhavans to be constructed in Kolkata and Delhi.
