Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Manipur on Saturday, marking his first visit to the State since ethnic violence broke out in May 2023.

Mr. Modi landed at Imphal International Airport around 11:20 a.m. and proceeded by road to Churachandpur. During the visit, he is scheduled to inaugurate development projects worth ₹8,500 crore across both hill and valley districts and interact with people displaced by the ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities.

The PM will address a gathering at Kangla, Imphal at around 2 pm today. He will inaugurate several development projects.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister launched projects worth ₹9,000 crore in Mizoram. Owing to heavy rain, he addressed a public rally virtually from Lengpui Airport near Aizawl instead of at the planned venue, Lammual Ground in the city’s centre.
