PM Narendra Modi Sanctions ₹2 Lakh for Cancer Patient from Tripura Following MP Biplab Kumar Deb’s Appeal

Agartala, October 29, 2025: The Prime Minister’s Office has sanctioned a financial grant of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the cancer treatment of Smt. Anita Paul Das, a resident of East Champamura under Khayerpur Assembly Constituency in West Tripura. The sanction followed a request forwarded by Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on September 18, 2025.

According to an official communication issued by the PMO, the approved amount has been directly remitted to Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati, through IDFC Bank on October 14, 2025, for advanced medical treatment. The assistance is meant to cover expenses related to surgery and treatment within the permissible period, in accordance with the PMNRF guidelines.

Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb, in a social media post, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the swift approval. He said, “I express my sincere gratitude and thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for sanctioning ₹2 lakh for the advanced treatment of Anita Pal Das, who is suffering from incurable cancer. When Anita Pal Das requested medical assistance, I immediately forwarded her case to the PM Relief Fund, and it was sanctioned within a very short time. Prime Minister Ji has approved almost every request regarding advanced treatment with a sincere eye.”

The PMO has directed the hospital authorities to commence treatment within one year from the date of sanction and utilize the grant strictly as per the prescribed norms.
