Agartala, December 16, 2025: A financial grant of ₹1,25,000 has been approved from the PM National Relief Fund for the treatment of cancer patient Poonam Dey. West Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending this humanitarian assistance.

According to local sources, Poonam Dey, daughter of Debal Dey from East Champamura under Old Agartala in West Tripura district, has been undergoing treatment for cancer for a long time. When her family sought financial support for advanced medical care, MP Biplab Kumar Deb promptly forwarded the request to the PM National Relief Fund, treating the matter with urgent priority. The application was approved within a short period, and the sanctioned amount has now been released.

Speaking on the development, MP Deb said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi consistently stands beside the sick and distressed with a compassionate approach. He added that most previous applications related to critical medical treatment were also approved with sincerity by the Prime Minister. The assistance has brought a sense of relief and hope to Poonam Dey’s family, who believe this support will ease her path to better treatment.
