Agartala, April 01, 2026: Tripura has recorded remarkable progress under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), with the state nearing full achievement of its housing targets under Phases I and II.
According to the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Rural Development, Tripura was assigned a target of 3,76,913 houses. Of these, 3,76,194 houses have been registered and 3,76,187 sanctioned, reflecting an impressive 99.81 percent sanction rate. In terms of completion, 3,73,908 houses have been completed, accounting for nearly 99 percent of the total target. So far, the Centre has transferred Rs 4,859.64 crore to the state to support implementation.
As per the latest MIS report, cumulative progress for the current financial year shows that 3,76,205 houses have been sanctioned, out of which 3,73,435 beneficiaries have verified accounts. Instalment-wise disbursement indicates that 3,76,189 beneficiaries received the first instalment, 3,73,327 the second, and 3,70,709 the third instalment, while no fourth instalment has yet been released. A total of 3,72,277 houses have been completed and verified, while overall completed houses stand at 3,73,633.
District-wise performance highlights Dhalai as the top performer with 54,625 houses sanctioned and 54,362 completed, followed by Gomati with 53,866 sanctioned and 53,440 completed. South Tripura reported 52,432 sanctioned and 51,925 completed houses, while West Tripura recorded 49,421 sanctioned and 48,899 completed. Sepahijala, North Tripura, Khowai, and Unakoti also showed strong progress, with completion figures closely matching sanctioned targets.
At the national level, PMAY-G continues to be one of the largest rural housing programmes. Under Phases I and II, 4.15 crore houses have been allocated, with 3.90 crore sanctioned and 2.99 crore completed so far. The scheme aims to achieve a cumulative target of 4.95 crore houses by 2029, backed by a total fund transfer exceeding Rs 4.03 lakh crore.
Launched on April 1, 2016, PMAY-G seeks to provide pucca houses with basic amenities to all eligible rural households. With features such as geo-tagging, Aadhaar-based verification, and convergence with schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the programme continues to enhance rural living standards while advancing the goal of “Housing for All.”
