In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Manipur Police arrested a 38-year-old man and seized a large consignment of narcotics during an operation in Imphal East district on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Meisnam Geetchandra of Khurai Konsam Leikai, was apprehended from Khurai Sajor Leikai under Porompat police station jurisdiction with the assistance of members of a local civil society organisation.
During the raid, police recovered 23,304 Tramadol tablets, 1,390 Nitrapal tablets, and 1,383 bottles of Bercodex syrup. Authorities said the seizure represents a significant breakthrough in the state’s ongoing fight against drug trafficking.
Officials confirmed that Geetchandra has been taken into custody. Investigations are underway to track the source of the contraband and identify other members involved in the illegal drug network.
