Agartala, November 10, 2025: The Tripura Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a statewide “Unity March” (Ekta March) from November 10, as part of a nationwide initiative to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Announcing the program at a press conference held at the state BJP headquarters in Agartala city on Saturday, Tripura BJP president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee said the “Unity March” is being organized across all 10 organizational districts to promote the spirit of national unity and integrity.

Highlighting Sardar Patel’s historic role in unifying India, Bhattacharjee said, “Born on October 31, 1875, in Gujarat, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was one of India’s greatest leaders and a key figure in the country’s freedom struggle. His efforts were instrumental in integrating princely states, including Tripura, into the Indian Union in 1949. At that time, some forces wanted to merge Tripura with East Pakistan, but due to the efforts of Maharani Kanchanprabha Devi and Sardar Patel, Tripura became an inseparable part of India.”

He added that a Unity Run had already been organized across Tripura on October 31 to mark Patel’s birth anniversary, with the participation of the Chief Minister, ministers, and MLAs.

Bhattacharjee informed that the first phase of the Unity March will begin in West Tripura district on November 10, covering the route from Ujjayanta Palace to Hapania Mela Ground. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, along with ministers and legislators, will lead the march. Subsequent marches will be held in North Tripura and Sepahijala districts on November 12, South Tripura on November 14, Unakoti and Khowai on November 18, and Gomati district on November 20. Each march will cover a distance of 8 to 10 kilometers.

“In addition to the Unity March, related programs like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan activities will also be carried out. Through these efforts, the BJP aims to strengthen the message of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat – Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura’,” the state BJP president said.
