Agartala, October 14, 2025: Tipra Motha Party (TMP) founder and royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma on Monday alleged that national parties in Tripura would never allow a Tiprasa leader to become Chief Minister, accusing them of promoting only “rubber stamp leaders.”

Speaking at a mass joining programme held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala city on Monday afternoon, where 1,223 voters from 316 families across nine Assembly constituencies joined the TMP, Debbarma said, “Leaders come and go, but truth and commitment make a warrior.” He described Tipra Motha as a movement rather than a political outfit, urging those seeking personal gain or positions to stay away.

Criticizing the state and national parties for neglecting indigenous rights, he remarked that national parties may offer “fame and money, but not justice.” Debbarma slammed the government for failing to conduct Village Committee elections for the past nine years despite court orders, noting that three Chief Ministers have changed since the last VC polls.

The TMP chief also revealed that a second petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding 38 pending TTAADC bills related to land, trade, and customary laws. Only the Jamatia Customary Law received assent from the Governor since the CPI-M era, he said, terming the delay “unconstitutional and undemocratic.”

Accusing the administration of encroaching on ADC lands under the pretext of township development, Debbarma appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to deliver on the Centre’s commitment for a constitutional solution for the Tiprasa people.

Calling for Tiprasa-Bengali unity, he urged collective efforts for Tripura’s progress and appealed to IPFT to join hands with TMP to win all 28 ADC seats. “Our dream is to see a Tiprasa Chief Minister after Dasarath Debbarma,” he said.

Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma reaffirmed his loyalty to the regional party, vowing to remain with it “even for the next 70 years.” The event was also attended by TMP President B.K. Hrangkhawl, CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia, Chairman Jagadish Debbarma, MLAs, EMs, and other senior leaders.
