Agartala, April 06, 2026: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Monday appealed to tribal communities in Tripura’s hill areas to maintain peace and avoid internal violence ahead of the upcoming ADC elections, amid reports of several violent incidents emerging from different parts of the region.
In a message shared through social media, Debbarma said that if members of the tribal community truly care for their people, they should not take the law into their own hands or allow themselves to be provoked during the election period. He stressed that elections are held every five years, but conflicts arising out of temporary political tensions could leave long-term divisions within society.
He warned that infighting among tribal groups would weaken social unity and ultimately make the community vulnerable to criticism from outsiders. According to him, such incidents not only create mistrust within the community but also send a negative message beyond the state.
Debbarma further observed that if tribal communities engage in violence against one another, the situation would eventually turn into a farce and damage Tripura’s public image. He urged all sections of society to remain calm, exercise restraint, and reject any attempt to provoke unrest in the days leading up to the elections.
The Tipra Motha leader underlined that maintaining peace during the final phase before polling is crucial for preserving democratic values and ensuring that voters can participate freely in the electoral process.
He also emphasized that every citizen must be able to cast their vote without fear, intimidation, or obstruction, adding that peaceful participation in the democratic process is essential for safeguarding the dignity and unity of the tribal population.
