Agartala, April 01, 2026: TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Wednesday reiterated his vision of “Greater Tipraland,” stating that parts of Bangladesh could be integrated in the future if the Tiprasa community remains united.

Addressing an election rally at Silachari Motorstand in Gomati district, the Debbarma said that communities such as Chakma and Mog residing in areas like Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, and Khagrachhari in Bangladesh share ethnic ties with Tiprasa people. He asserted that with unity among the community, these regions could one day be brought under Tripura as part of a larger “Greater Tipraland.”

The idea of Greater Tipraland, conceptualised by Debbarma, envisions expanding Tripura’s territorial scope by incorporating adjoining areas with indigenous populations. The concept had gained prominence ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections.

Debbarma also made it clear that TMP would contest the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council independently, rejecting a proposed alliance with the BJP. He claimed that the BJP had offered a 14–14 seat-sharing arrangement in the 28-member council, which he declined outright.

He further alleged that he had been cautioned about a possible split within his party if the alliance did not materialise. However, he maintained that his political commitment is rooted in securing dignity, rights, and a better future for the Tiprasa people rather than personal or political gains.

Taking a swipe at Chief Minister Manik Saha, Debbarma criticised calls to support the BJP for implementing the Tripura Accord. He said that the rights, employment opportunities, direct funding to the tribal council, and recognition of Kokborok language issues should be addressed before seeking votes.

He also appealed to voters to extend their support to TMP candidate Manindra Tripura in the Silachari-Manubankul constituency for the upcoming ADC elections.
