Agartala, November 27, 2025: Former Tipra Motha supremo and MDC Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Thursday called upon the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) to join hands with Tipra Motha, asserting that only a united regional front can safeguard the interests of the tribal communities of Tripura and the Northeast.
Addressing a Tipra Motha public meeting, Pradyot accused national political parties of consistently sidelining tribal voices. He claimed that regional parties often enter alliances with national parties “out of greed or self-interest,” only to be “systematically wiped out” later.
Pradyot also alleged that his party had faced administrative hurdles while organising the rally in Agartala, despite other political parties being allowed to hold events without such complications. He, however, expressed satisfaction over the large turnout of people from across the Northeast.
Highlighting the economic challenges faced by tribal communities, Pradyot said that while tribals may currently lack financial resources, they possess “confidence, strength and courage to fight.” He described the North East Manch as a significant platform for amplifying tribal demands and reiterated that the demand for Greater Tipraland “will be implemented one day.”
Calling for regional solidarity, Pradyot urged the IPFT to stand “shoulder to shoulder” with Tipra Motha. Without such unity, he warned, regional parties risk meeting the fate of organisations like the Shiv Sena, Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People’s Front, which he said were weakened after aligning with national parties.
He concluded by stressing that the rights of tribal communities can only be secured through collective mobilisation. “Unity is strength,” he said, urging all tribal groups in the state to raise their voices together through the North East Manch.
