Gangtok, Jan 12: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of singer and actor Prashant Tamang, who passed away at the age of 43 due to cardiac arrest in New Delhi.
Prashant Tamang rose to national prominence after winning Indian Idol Season 3 and later established himself as an actor. He recently received appreciation for his role as a cold-blooded assassin in the web series Paatal Lok 2. A native of Darjeeling, Tamang was widely admired for his soulful voice and humble personality.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister described Tamang’s journey from a modest background to winning Indian Idol as a “shining example of perseverance, talent, and humility.” He termed the singer’s demise an irreparable loss to his family, admirers, and the region.
Prem Singh Tamang said Prashant Tamang would be remembered for the pride he brought to the hills and for inspiring countless aspiring artists. The Chief Minister also extended condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and fans, and prayed for strength and peace during this time of grief.
