The Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has won the 2nd Prize in the prestigious World Oral Health Day Celebration 2025 contest, organised by the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD).

The national-level competition, held from March 20 to April 20, 2025, witnessed participation from leading dental institutions across India. The contest, aligned with the global observance of World Oral Health Day on March 20, aimed to raise awareness on oral hygiene and preventive care, particularly among children. RIMS impressed the jury with its innovative initiatives, community outreach, and creative efforts to promote oral health.

In a show of continued excellence, the Dental College at RIMS had also bagged the 1st Consolation Prize during the World Oral Health Day Celebration 2024, organised by ISPPD.

These back-to-back recognitions underscore the department’s commitment to excellence in preventive dentistry and public health. The success has been attributed to the tireless efforts of the faculty, students, and staff, supported by the leadership of Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS; Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital; and Dr. B. Praveen Reddy, Principal of Dental College, RIMS.

The formal award ceremony for the 2025 contest will be held during the inaugural session of the ISPPD Conference scheduled for November in Bhubaneswar.

The achievements have further cemented RIMS Imphal’s reputation as a leading institution in dental education and community-focused oral health initiatives in India.
