The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has begun a fortnight-long observance of Swachhata Pakhwada from April 1 to 15, 2026, in line with directives from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, aiming to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental sustainability across its campus.

The campaign was formally inaugurated by RIMS Director Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, who administered the Swachhata pledge at the A-Block campus.

The event witnessed participation from Medical Superintendent Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, along with senior officials, faculty members, nursing staff, and personnel from the Community Resource and Environmental Development (CRED) unit and Manipur Security Services (MSS), reaffirming the institute’s commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene.
As part of the launch, awareness posters and banners emphasizing sanitation and cleanliness were displayed across the campus.

Simultaneously, CRED staff carried out intensive cleaning drives in key areas, including the Casualty Block, Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU), and Burn Unit. The activities involved decluttering, sanitisation of wards and equipment, and proper waste disposal to ensure a safer healthcare environment.

Extending the initiative beyond the campus, MSS conducted a road sanitation drive covering the stretch from Gate No. 2 to the BSNL Office via the main gate, highlighting RIMS’ focus on environmental responsibility in surrounding areas.
On the second day of the campaign, cleanliness drives continued with active participation. CRED undertook thorough cleaning of the Mini Auditorium and Laundry premises, while MSS carried out roadside cleaning from the southern side of the Mini Auditorium up to the New Examination Hall.

The ongoing campaign reflects a collective effort by the RIMS community to promote cleanliness, raise awareness, and instill a sense of responsibility towards maintaining a healthy and hygienic environment.
