Agartala, November 21, 2025: A Rohingya youth was allegedly abducted from Bangladesh and brought to India, where kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. After being confined in a dark room for two days and brutally assaulted, the victim was left in a bloodied state late Thursday night at Chellikhola Bangla Bazar in Tripura.

Fire service personnel rescued the injured youth and rushed him to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. The victim has been identified as Abdul Shukkur, a resident of the area adjacent to the Okiyapur refugee camp in Bangladesh.

Bishalgarh police station staff has registered a case number 107/2025 in connection with the incident. Authorities have also filed charges under the Passport Act, alleging illegal entry into India. Investigations are underway to determine who else may be involved in the abduction and assault.

Officials confirmed that the accused will be produced before the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court after medical treatment. The incident has sparked widespread concern and unrest in the locality.
