Agartala, March 21, 2026: The Planning and Coordination Department has revealed that a total of ₹322.34 crore was allocated to the state by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) during the financial years 2023–24, 2024–25, and 2025–26. Out of this, Rs 183.98 crore has been spent, while Rs 138.36 crore remains unspent.

The information was placed in the Assembly in response to a query raised by MLA Sailendra Chandra Nath.

According to the official reply, in 2023–24, only one project under PM-DevINE received Rs 17.59 crore, which was fully utilized. No funds were received under the NESIDS-OTRI scheme that year.

In 2024–25, a total of Rs 207.46 crore was allocated across both schemes, out of which Rs 122.23 crore was spent, leaving Rs 85.23 crore unutilized. The NESIDS-OTRI component accounted for eight projects, while PM-DevINE covered four projects.

For the current financial year 2025–26, Rs 97.29 crore has been sanctioned for six projects. So far, Rs 43.91 crore has been utilized, with Rs 53.38 crore yet to be spent.

Overall, the data indicates a significant portion of allocated funds remains unutilized, raising concerns over the pace of project implementation under key infrastructure and development schemes in the state.
