Aizawl, Jun 3: Schools in 10 districts of Mizoram remained closed on Tuesday for the fourth consecutive day due to ongoing heavy rainfall, which has triggered landslides, mudflows, and rockfalls in various parts of the state, officials said.
All district administrations, except Saitual, ordered the closure of schools as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students.
In Aizawl, Deputy Commissioner and District Disaster Management Authority Chairman Lalhriatpuia issued a notification advising all schools in the district to suspend student attendance on June 3 in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
