Agartala, January 5, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced that all schools across the state- government, government-aided and privately managed will remain closed from January 6 to January 10, 2026 due to the prevailing extreme cold weather conditions.
“It has been decided to close all schools (Govt/Govt Aided & Privately managed) from 6th January to 10th January, 2026 due to extreme cold weather condition,” Dr. Saha stated.
The decision comes in response to the sharp dip in temperatures that has disrupted normal life in several districts. Authorities emphasized that the move is aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of students, particularly younger children who are more vulnerable to the biting cold.
Education officials confirmed that the closure will apply uniformly across the state, and schools have been advised to adjust their academic schedules accordingly. Parents welcomed the announcement, noting that the cold wave has made early morning classes especially difficult for children.
Meteorological reports suggest that the cold spell is likely to persist for the next few days, with temperatures hovering well below seasonal averages. The government has urged citizens to take necessary precautions and limit exposure to the harsh weather, especially during morning and evening hours.
