Secretary, MeitY Inaugurates Start-up & Innovation Centre at NIELIT Agartala

Agartala, November 11, 2025: S. Krishnan, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, visited NIELIT Agartala on Monday and inaugurated the Start-up and Innovation Centre established under the Next Generation Incubation Network (NGIN) scheme of the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura.

The Secretary was accompanied by Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General, CERT-In; Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, IT, Government of Tripura; Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director, IT, Government of Tripura; Shibendu Debbarma, Director, STPI; and other senior officials.

During the visit, Krishnan reviewed the ongoing activities and initiatives at NIELIT Agartala and interacted with students to learn about their start-up ideas and innovations. He also assessed the institute’s training infrastructure and facilities.

Niladri Das, Director In-Charge, NIELIT Agartala, briefed the dignitaries on the Centre’s initiatives and expansion plans. He informed that NIELIT Agartala is working to extend its training programmes to Unakoti and Khowai districts, in addition to its current operations in Sepahijala, South Tripura, Dhalai, and West Tripura. The institute also conducts weekend training programmes to benefit students and working professionals.

The visit highlighted NIELIT’s ongoing commitment to promoting innovation, skill development, and entrepreneurship in Tripura, aligning with the broader vision of MeitY to nurture digital growth and start-up culture across the country.
