Agartala, September 02, 2025: In a shocking breach of security, three allegedly intoxicated youths drove into the newly constructed MLA hostel near ILS Hospital in Agartala late Monday night and reportedly hurled abusive language and death threats at Kanchanpur’s Tipra Motha MLA, Philip Kumar Reang.

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM, within close proximity to the NCC police station, raising serious concerns about the state’s law and order. According to sources, the MLA was taken aback by the sudden intrusion and immediately called for help. The three youths fled the scene in their vehicle before others could intervene.

Police rushed to the hostel following the complaint and have launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the premises is currently being reviewed to identify the suspects and trace their movements.

The episode has sparked widespread concern over the security arrangements at the MLA hostel. Key questions remain unanswered: How did the youths gain entry so late at night? Was there no security personnel at the gate? And most critically—who were these individuals and what was their motive?

MLA Reang has reportedly stated that he does not know the youths personally, adding to the mystery surrounding the incident. As the investigation unfolds, the breach has triggered a broader debate on the adequacy of security protocols for elected representatives in the state.
