Security forces in Manipur conducted a series of coordinated operations on August 28, resulting in the arrest of several insurgent cadres, seizures of contraband substances, and significant recoveries of arms and ammunition across multiple districts.

In Jiribam district, authorities apprehended Henkhokai Singson (32) of Tamenglong from Mulargao village. A total of 22 soap cases of contraband brown sugar, a two-wheeler, and a mobile phone were seized from his possession.

Meanwhile, in Imphal West, police arrested Phanjoubam Rocky Singh (30), an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP–PWG) involved in extortion activities, and Thangjam Dinesh Singh (19), a cadre of KCP (PSC) linked to extortion and intimidation. Another KCP (Taibanganba) operative, Moirangthem Friendship Meitei (35), was arrested in Kakching district, while a KYKL cadre, Takhelchangbam Ibohanbi Sharma (54), was nabbed in Imphal East.

The operations also led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition. Security personnel recovered one SLR rifle, a .303 rifle, SBBL and DBBL guns, along with a mine bomb from Phubala Patton Mamang area in Bishnupur district. In Jiribam, forces seized five country-made SBBL guns, 33 AK live rounds, vials of gunpowder, a walkie-talkie, lead pieces, and iron rods used for gunpowder filling.

A major recovery was also made at the foothills of Uran-Chiru village in Imphal East, where security forces seized three INSAS rifles, an AK-56, two Ghatak AK-47 rifles, an SLR, an MP5 rifle, and more than 230 rounds of assorted live ammunition.

Officials said the operations mark a significant step in the ongoing crackdown against insurgency and illegal activities in the state.
