Security forces carried out a series of coordinated operations across Manipur on Wednesday, resulting in multiple arrests and significant recoveries of contraband substances, vehicles, and communication devices.

In a major seizure, one Khomdram Deben Meitei (43) of Nambol Lourembam Maning Leikai, Bishnupur district, was apprehended at New Keithelmanbi Police Pkt Point under Patsoi Police Station, Imphal West. From his possession, personnel recovered 184.13 kg of ganja, a Tata truck used for transporting the contraband, and a mobile phone with a SIM card.

In separate operations, two active cadres of KCP (PWG)—Yumnam Surchandra Singh (35) alias Sur and Haorongbam Tomba Meetei (29)—were arrested from their locality in Lairenkabi village under Lamsang Police Station, Imphal West.

Another arrest was made in Imphal East, where security forces nabbed an active People’s Liberation Army (PLA) cadre, Kangujam Nongmaikhomba Meitei (50) of Basikhong. He was allegedly involved in extortion activities targeting the public, local businesses, schools, and colleges in Bishnupur district. A mobile phone with two SIM cards and a purple-coloured Activa scooter (registration no. MN 01C 3338) were recovered from him.

Two more active cadres of KCP (City Meitei) were also apprehended. Laishram Suranjoy Meitei alias Thoi (28) of Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai, Imphal West, was arrested from his locality, while Phijam Athailu Meitei (26) of Sekta Mayai Leikai, Imphal East, was caught at Khabam Chumbreithong. Two mobile phones were seized during the operations.

Meanwhile, security forces continue to intensify search operations and area domination in vulnerable areas across the state. On September 3, a total of 113 checkpoints were set up in both hill and valley districts, though no detentions were reported from these points.
