Security Forces carried out a series of coordinated anti-narcotics operations across Ukhrul, Kangpokpi and Senapati districts from 12th to 14th November 2025, destroying more than 200 acres of illegal poppy cultivation and arresting two drug traffickers.

On 14th November, troops eradicated 113 acres of poppy plantations at multiple locations in Ukhrul district, including Lamlai Chingphei Hill Ranges, Thawai Kuki (Mapithel) Hill Ranges, Phalee & Tora villages and Kachai Thikor Hill Range. Ten farm huts used in the illegal cultivation were also demolished.
A day earlier, on 13th November, security personnel and Forest Department officials destroyed 35 acres of poppy fields at Mullam Hill Range under Litan Police Station, Ukhrul district. Three farm huts were demolished during the operation.
On 12th November, another 56 acres of illicit poppy cultivation were cleared in Kangpokpi district at the adjoining areas of Thonglang Akutpa & Songjang Hill Ranges and Awlmun Village under Kangchup Police Station. Nineteen huts, ten bags of fertilizer and nine sacks of salt were seized and destroyed.
In a separate crackdown on 14th November, Security Forces arrested two drug traffickers — Raju Ali and Aynul Haque of Kamrup, Assam — at Maram check post under Maram Police Station, Senapati district. A vehicle and 18.2 kg of opium were recovered from their possession.
Officials said the operations form part of intensified efforts to curb narcotics trafficking and illegal poppy cultivation in Manipur, stressing that such actions are essential to protect local communities from the growing drug menace.
