Security forces on Wednesday stopped nearly 100 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Manipur from returning to their native villages, police said.
The IDPs, who had been sheltering at a relief camp near Sajiwa in Imphal East district, attempted to move towards Doilaithabi in the same district with the intention of resettling in their villages.
A police officer stated that the move was halted as a precautionary measure to avoid any potential untoward incidents. However, no further details were provided regarding the security concerns or future plans for their return.
