Security Forces have carried out a series of successful counter-insurgency operations across Manipur, leading to significant recoveries of arms and ammunition as well as the arrest of two active cadres belonging to banned underground outfits.
On October 30, a major recovery operation was conducted at Laisoi Karong Kajin area under Keibul Lamjao Police Station in Bishnupur district. The forces seized a cache of weapons and ammunition, including one .303 rifle with magazine, one 9 mm MP9 with magazine, two double-barrel guns, 41 rounds of assorted ammunition, two stun shells, a rubber tube, and two T-shirts along with a pair of hunting boots.
Earlier, on October 29, Security Forces arrested two active militants from separate locations. An active cadre of the KCP (PWG), identified as Ningthoujam Birjit Meitei alias Tocha (36) of Nongren Mamang Leikai, Imphal East district, was apprehended from Chingarel Tejpur area under Lamlai Police Station. He was reportedly involved in extortion and illegal money collection from the public.
On the same day, another militant, Pukhrambam Amutombi alias Pungakpa (53) of Bishnupur Ward No. 1, Bishnupur district, an active member of the PREPAK (PRO), was arrested from Thangal Bazar under City Police Station, Imphal West district. He was allegedly engaged in extortion activities targeting oil pumps, showrooms, hotels, government officials, and members of the public in the valley areas.
In a separate operation, Security Forces arrested an active cadre of PREPAK (PRO), one Moirangthem Pradip Singh slias Langdaiba (37) of Tronglaobi Makha Leikai Ward number 6 under Moirang-Police Station, Bishnupur district from his residence. He was involved in recruitment of cadres and extortion from public, local businessmen, shopkeepers and pharmacies. A mobile phone along with a SIM card was seized from him.
