Senior Army Officers Meet Manipur Governor; Reviews Security And Durand Cup Preparations

The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Command, Lt. Gen. Ram Chander Tiwari, called on the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan in Imphal today. He was accompanied by GOC Spear Corps, Lt. Gen. Abhijit S. Pendharkar, and Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), Maj. Gen. Ravroop Singh.

During the meeting, Lt. Gen. Tiwari is learnt to have briefed the Governor on the operational preparedness and logistical arrangements for the upcoming 134th edition of the Durand Cup, scheduled to be held later this year. The senior officers also apprised the Governor of the prevailing security situation in Manipur and the overall security scenario in the Northeastern region.

In a separate engagement at Raj Bhavan, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired the General Council Meeting of the Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA). The session included comprehensive discussions on administrative and developmental matters, including the formation of Standing Committees.

The meeting also deliberated on initiatives to promote art, culture, and literature in Manipur, nationally and globally.
