Mangan, Jan 22: The 16th Finance Commission Delegation concluded its visit to Mangan district on Wednesday, wrapping up their official engagements aimed at understanding local challenges and opportunities.
The delegation began the day with an early departure to Yumthang Valley at 07:10 hours. A high tea was hosted at the Yumthang Forest Guest House, where the delegation interacted with forest officials to learn about regional conservation efforts. The team also enjoyed a brief walk around the valley to experience its natural beauty.
The delegation was later accorded a guard of honor by local police officials as they prepared to depart. Anant Jain (IAS), District Collector, along with other district officials, escorted the delegation to the Lachung helipad for their onward journey.
Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, expressed his gratitude to the district administration for their warm hospitality and support. He emphasized that the visit facilitated productive exchanges, offering valuable insights into the region’s development challenges and opportunities.
The Chairman also extended thanks to local communities, the Travel Agents’ Association (TAAS), hotel staff, and the public for their contributions to the successful visit.
Following the conclusion of their engagements in Mangan, the delegation departed for the Burtuk helipad in Gangtok.
