The 64th edition of the Pre-Subroto Cup International District-Level Inter School Football Tournament 2025 kicked off on Thursday at Jautar Stadium, Soreng. The event is organized by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department of Soreng District to promote youth engagement in sports and identify emerging football talent.

The opening ceremony was addressed by CK Rana, Chairman of the Sikkim Agriculture and Horticulture Board, who commended the government’s efforts in encouraging sports among the youth and urged participants to aim for higher-level competitions, including national tournaments.

The tournament features three categories: Under-15 Boys, Under-17 Boys, and Under-17 Girls. Winners from each category will go on to represent Soreng District at the State-Level Tournament scheduled to be held in Gangtok on July 21, 2025.

Under-15 Boys: Government Secondary School Rumbuk defeated Himalayan Academy

Under-15 Boys: Government Senior Secondary School Mangalbaria won against Government Secondary School Rinchenpong

Under-17 Boys: Don Bosco School Malbasey defeated Government Secondary School Chumbung

The event was attended by Deputy Director (Sports) Mamita Gurung, Assistant Director (Sports) DB Subba, officials from the Roads and Bridges, Health, and Police Departments, and staff from various schools.

The tournament aims to foster sportsmanship and provide a platform for young athletes to progress to state and national levels.
